EDN 303 Questions

o How can I use blogger in my classes?
I can use blogger in my class for posting homework assingments just in case students forgot to write down their homework that night. I can also tell the parents and guardians upcoming events or any news that is happening in the classroom. It will also help for uploading forms that the guardians must sign in case it gets lost as well.
o What benefits are there to using this tool?
The benefits to using this tool in the classroom is that parents will know what is happening in my classroom. They do not have to email me for extra forms or homework because their student left them in class. Parents will feel like they are aware of their student's education.
o What limitations are there to using this tool?
The limitations with using this tool is that some parents or guardians might not have access to a computer or internet especially if I am teaching in a school in a low income area. Some guardians might have access to it, while for others I would still have to send newsletters home. It is a little more of a challenge to write the newsletters, print them out, and hope that they will receive them at home. Newsletters could not be a daily task, they would have to be weekly or even monthly.
o What are your thoughts of using this tool or other social networking tools in k-12
education?
I love the thought of using blogger or other social networking tools in education. I have heard so many parents complain about how they do not know what is going on in the classroom or that they did not hear of anything going on from their student. Then, the teacher might receive many emails or visits about these situations. This site would help prevent this for parents or guardians that have access to a computer and internet.
